Twenty-six-year-old Ever Cruz was sentenced Monday after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder charges last summer. Prosecutors say the summer before Cruz struck Pedro Cala in the head at an apartment complex dog park during an altercation over Cala being close to his girlfriend. Cruz continued to punch and kick the victim until he was unconscious. Cruz was arrested the following day in Maryland and Cala died six days after the attack.
