Liz Kennedy with more.Preview: Tax increases and funding for city schools were the top discussions at Roanoke's city council meeting. Community members packed the council chambers last night to voice their concerns about the increases and funding cuts that would affect residents and students. School officials say funding cuts would lead to eliminated positions which would jeopardize student success. And some residents say they oppose a proposed meal tax increase which would go towards city overtime pay. City council is expected to finalize the budget next month.
