A former Fairfax County elementary school teacher has been charged with assault. Police say 63-year-old Mary Simons turned herself in Monday after being charged. She's accused of assaulting a student and a teacher at Parklawn Elementary School in Lincolnia. Simons was put on administrative leave when police began investigating her. Simons then retired from teaching during the investigation. She's due back in court to be arraigned on May 14th.
