The federal government is investigating Norfolk-based Sentara Healthcare over claims it overcharged health insurance customers. Investigators say the company's Optima Health subsidiary raised premiums for customers seeking Affordable Care Act plans by an average of more than 80-percent in 2018 and 2019. Investigators are accusing the company of inflating insurance rates to get higher premium subsidies from the government. Sentara Health has denied any wrongdoing and says it is cooperating with the investigation.
