The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association says fewer children are going to emergency rooms seeking treatment for exposure to THC and hemp. The organization says ER visits for those issues have increased over the last several years. But the number of visits dropped after a new state law went into effect in July. The law regulates products containing hemp and THC, including how they are packaged and labeled. State medical officials hope the trend will be confirmed once they can analyze data for an entire year.
With Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner, it's important to be boat aware to stay safe if you're on the water. WSET-TV talked with the Virginia Conservation Police's 1st Sergeant Tim Dooley who patrols Smith Mountain Lake. He says Memorial Day to Labor Day is peak season, so you'll see more law enforcement trying to keep everyone safe. Tips include having fire extinguishers on your boat, making sure everyone on board is wearing a lifejacket and staying aware of your surroundings.
