An attorney is seeking a new trial for his client over claims the Virginia State Police paid an informant to testify at trial. Thirty-year-old Tyler Jones of Martinsburg, West Virginia was found guilty in March of charges related to a shooting that happened on I-81. His attorney now claims that the guilty verdict should be tossed because prosecutors failed to disclose evidence that could have led to his acquittal. That includes a claim that a Virginia State Police special agent paid a witness to testify at the trial. Prosecutors must file a response to the legal challenge by May 20th.
