Bond is denied for the Herndon man accused of killing his wife and another man last year. Brendan Banfield faces several charges, including murder, for the death of 37-year-old Christine and 38-year-old Joseph Ryan. It was reportedly a plot with the family's au pair, 23-year-old Juliana Peres Magalhaes, because the two were having an alleged affair. Peres Magalhaes is also charged with murder and is behind bars without bond.

The State Fair of Virginia is here. It opened today at Meadow Event Park in Doswell and it runs through Sunday, October 6. There are games, rides, ag competitions, musical entertainment and of course fair food and drink. More than 200-thousand people are expected to attend. This is the 170th anniversary of the fair.
