Children of divorce are more likely to experience depression and low self-esteem. Now a new study shows they may also have up to a 60-percent greater chance of stroke. The study looked at adults 65 and older, so there's no data about children born later, when many attitudes toward divorce changed and it became more commonplace. The link between stroke and divorce was comparable to risk factors like having diabetes. The researchers speculate the increase could be related to increased blood pressure, sleep problems or chronic stress. The study was published Wednesday in the journal PLOS One.
