Online threats have forced an Augusta County organization to cancel a weekend cheerleading competition. The Riverheads Little League says the threats began after a football game on November 2nd. The league says a "false narrative" began to spread on social media after a Senior Little League player from Waynesboro tripped on the sideline of the opposing team. The threats generated by the social media posts led to the cancellation of yesterday's Fort Defiance Cheer Competition. The league said it was devastated by the cancellation but said that safety is always their primary concern.
It could cost more to use facilities in Fairfax County parks next year. The county's park authority is asking for public input on fee increases that would take effect on January 1st. The county says the adjustments are necessary to ensure the stability of the park system and provide the programs and services demanded by the community. Comments will be accepted through November 29th on the Fairfax County website.
