A woman is facing charges in Prince William County after allegedly trying to run over an officer with a stolen car. Investigators say Jessica Rivera-Vanegas of Manassas took the car without permission on November 27th. Officers attempted to pull Rivera-Vanegas over and she reportedly drove toward one of them, forcing him to move out of the way. The stolen car stopped after crashing into two other vehicles. The 21-year-old is charged with attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, eluding, driving without a license and two counts of hit-and-run.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday in a case challenging Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming treatment for transgender minors. The case before the conservative-majority court seeks to resolve the question of whether the ban constitutes a violation of the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause.
