Virginians are being urged to look into getting flood insurance to protect their homes and property during Flood Awareness Week in Virginia. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation says flooding is the most common natural disaster, but only three-percent of Virginians have purchased flood insurance. The agency estimates that one-inch of water can cause more than 25-thousand dollars in damage to a home. More information about Flood Awareness Week is available on the DCR website.

The Virginia Lottery says a Mega Millions ticket worth three-million dollars was sold near Williamsburg. The ticket for Friday night's drawing was bought at a 7-Eleven in James City County. The ticket matched the first five numbers drawn and would normally be worth a million dollars. But the buyer spent another dollar to add the Megaplier to the ticket and tripled the prize. The winner has about six months to claim the money.
