Investigators say one person is dead after a train hit an SUV in James City County. The crash happened yesterday afternoon at a private road crossing. An oncoming Amtrak train hit a Toyota Highlander, killing 31-year-old Sarah Jones Mazariegos. No one on the train reported any injuries.

An American Idol winner hopes his life story can inspire inmates to turn their lives around. Season 20 winner Noah Thompson performed yesterday at the Regional Jail East in New Kent County. He told inmates about his struggles growing up with parents who were addicts, and how he chose a different path. One inmate tells CBS 6 the performance was awesome, and he appreciates Thompson's courage to share his story.
