The fire department announced the ban on Wednesday and said they expected to lift it today unless environmental conditions didn't improve. The ban covers open-air burning of yard waste, agricultural burns and recreational fires. Fire Marshal Scott Sutton says vegetation is dry and highly combustible, and with high winds and low humidity in the forecast, even a small spark could turn it into a significant event.
