They announced yesterday that Sergeant James McLaughlin passed away from cancer. He was 65. McLaughlin started with the sheriff's office 40 years ago, and he was promoted to sergeant of the Crime Prevention Unit three years ago. The sheriff's office writes that McLaughlin served to the fullest, he was one of the very best, and he'll be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
