There is apparently a plan in place to settle the debt between Carter Bank and Trust and the Justice family businesses in Martinsville. The details were not released. The dispute over 300-million-dollars of defaulted loans started in April of last years. Often times settlements like this are resolved by the liquidation of businesses, which could include The Greenbrier property.
Chesterfield County residents are asked to pick which animal best represents the county. Experience Chesterfield announced yesterday it's now accepting votes for a county mascot. Employees cast their votes during the recent spirit week celebration, and from those votes, four finalists were chosen. They're a raccoon, a chipmunk, a retriever, and a bear. No matter who wins, the mascot will be named Cole in tribute to the county's coal mining history. Voting is open through July 10th at ExperienceChesterfield.com.
