An Arlington County court is granting a request to hold a special election to fill an open Falls Church City Council seat. Caroline Lian resigned from the seat last week over allegations that she failed to disclose that she was working two full-time jobs. The court set the special election for the seat for November 5th. Anyone planning to run must file by August 30th.
Women in the U.S. have the lowest life expectancy among most industrialized countries, according to nonprofit group The Commonwealth Fund. It used provisional data from the CDC to calculate that American women in 2022 have a life expectancy of 80. That's two years shorter than the life expectancy of the nation with the next lowest, the United Kingdom, and seven years shorter than in Korea and Japan which have the highest expectancies.
