A man is dead after being hit by a train in Newport News. The man was hit in the 36-hundred block of Bland Boulevard around 9:30 last night. Amtrak released a statement that Northeast Regional Train 99 was delayed south of Williamsburg due to a "trespasser coming into contact with equipment." The agency estimated a delay of at least two hours to clear the tracks. Police are investigating and have not released any details about the person killed or how they came into contact with the train.
