Winter weather is expected to bring icy conditions to the Norfolk area this week, with rain and freezing temperatures creating potential hazards on the roads. VDOT is preparing to have crews out monitoring and treating icy spots. Experts tell WRIC it is best to stay off the roads if possible during inclement weather. VDOT was unable to pretreat roads due to rain, but is gearing up for another round of wintry weather with snow expected Tuesday into Wednesday. Drivers are encouraged to check their tire tread to ensure safe driving in snowy conditions.
A new study concludes Texas is the number one state when it comes to making the greatest racial progress over the past year. The study comes from the financial website WalletHub. It measured gaps between Blacks and whites across more than 20 key indicators of equality. Those include employment, wealth, education, social and civic engagement and health. Virginia ranked 12th.
