A suspect in the death of Irvo Otieno is a free man. A jury yesterday found hospital orderly Wavie Jones not guilty of involuntary manslaughter. The 28-year-old Otieno died last year at Central State Hospital in Dinwiddie County. He was under the custody of Henrico County deputies at the time, and the medical examiner determined he died of asphyxia. Otieno's mother calls the verdict a miscarriage of justice. She tells 12 On Your Side the verdict shows those who find themselves in a mental health crisis have no protection under the law.
A Chesterfield County homeowner is the victim of what police call a very concerning crime. An armed man stole a package from a house Wednesday. No one was hurt. Police Captain Randy Horowitz says it's rare to hear of a porch pirate being armed. He also tells CBS 6 he believes the suspect could be the same man responsible for a similar incident in Henrico County last week.
