Virginia's governor is calling for stricter social media rules for teens under the age of 18. Governor Youngkin says he wants to raise the state's social media consent age to 18. That would be the age that would require social media platforms get parental consent before using their apps. Currently, nationwide that age is 13. Youngkin told reporters last week that this is not a political issue, this is a child issue. Some Democrats are onboard, while some, like Senator Aird from Petersburg says raising the age of consent to 18 could be a little drastic. But most believe the proposal will get bipartisan support.

The Newport News City council will be voting on the city's firearms ban. If the ordinance passes, people with concealed handgun permits will not be allowed to bring their guns inside city buildings or buildings being rented by the city. People who violate the new rules could be fined 500-dollars or possible trespassing charges. Council will be voting tonight at 7 p.m.
