The Richmond Police Department says copper theft is becoming more prevalent. They say thieves are targeting houses with copper downspouts. Authorities say homes in The Fan District and the Museum District are likely targets. They are reminding residents to say something if they see any suspicious activity near their homes.  
 
 
Over 1,200 people in Chesapeake were without power early Friday morning, according to Dominion Energy. 10OnYourSide reports the time estimates for restoration were in the early afternoon. The cause of the outage is under investigation.  
 
 
Virginia is awarding grants to dozens of organizations to help put on festivals and special events in the new year. Governor Youngkin announced the grants from the Virginia Tourism Corporation yesterday. Just over 812-thousand dollars will be given to help fund 81 events around the Commonwealth. The grants are designed to help each event attract more visitors and increase overnight stays in each community.
