Virginia State Police launched a new initiative to attract more prospective troopers.Preview: Eight new sites have been added to the Virginia Landmarks Register. The state Department of Historic Resources added the Parrish Hill School and the Mica School in Charles City County. Both schools provided education for Black students during the Jim Crow era. Also named to the list among others is the former site of the Sta-Kleen Bakery in Lynchburg, which was founded in 1913 and became a regional producer of Sunbeam bread in the 1930s.
