A big rally held outside the Fairfax County Government Center today. Hundreds of union workers and community groups that have just formed the Fairfax County Jobs Coalition are showing their support for an entertainment district and casino proposed for Tysons. The massive project would create thousands of good-paying union construction jobs and lead to upwards of 140-million-dollars in annual tax dollars for schools and county services.
To say that Brandy the pit bull is one lucky dog is a vast understatement. Fire crews were called Monday to the scene of the October 15th gas explosion that leveled a home in Haymarket after someone reported hearing barking. Firefighters started sifting through the piles of rubble that remain on the property and were finally able to reach Brandy. Brandy emerged with a rapidly wagging tail and no serious injuries.
