The University of Virginia is considering the construction of a new data center to meet future research demands. The university's finance committee was briefed on the need for the 72-million-dollar project earlier this month. Supporters say the data center is necessary to meet the university's growing data storage needs. They also feel that would keep faculty members from moving to other institutions with a better research infrastructure. If approved, construction could begin in 2029.
