Some Richmond businesses say they have started banning students from entering during school hours. Several businesses, like Family Dollar, say students entering stores during the school day contribute to theft and cause other problems for staff. A spokesperson for Richmond Public Schools has released a statement saying school discipline only extends to the school doors and they are encouraging parents to help reinforce positive behaviors in and outside of the home.
The Virginia Department of Health is sounding the alarm after a child contracted measles and may have exposed others at various hospitals in Woodbridge and Fredericksburg. The child is a four-year-old and reportedly visited two Kaiser Permanente hospitals last Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday from about noon to 5 p.m..
