Health experts are warning of a rise in whooping cough cases, with twice as many cases reported compared to last year. Dr. Annie Williams of the Norfolk Health Department notes a rise in whooping cough cases in babies and children, characterized by a distinct bark-like cough. The infection, which spreads through coughing and sneezing, can last for weeks or months and is highly infectious. 13 News Now reports that the CDC attributes the increase to low vaccination rates.
