Some convenience stores around Virginia are protesting Governor Younkin's amendment to skill games. It happening today and tomorrow when WAVY-TV reports that the Virginia Merchants and Amusement Coalition will assist participating stores in stopping the sale of lottery tickets... you may notice it's more difficult to get one today. Tomorrow, participating stores will close from 350 to 450pm. It's in a effort to show how that would impact the community. The Governor's amendments include a ban on skill games within 35 miles of a gaming establishment along with a 45-percent tax rate for small businesses.

Richmond's police chief is fed up by the level of violence in the city. Chief Rick Edwards commented after two 16-year-olds were killed in separate shootings. He said that makes four juveniles killed in the last two weeks in Richmond. Edwards says people need to put these guns down and handle their disputes the way we used to, not with guns, but, at worst, with words and fists. No arrests have been announced in either shooting, and Edwards asks anyone with information to come forward.

Meanwhile, Edwards has announced a curfew for juveniles in the city. Parents are urged to make sure their children stay indoors after 11pm. He says it's to protect them from the escalating violence. More details about the curfew are expected to be released.
