The Army is investigating the death of a Williamsburg solider who died during a training accident. First Lieutenant Zachary Galli died Saturday at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Johnson, Louisiana Galli began serving after graduating from the UVA in 2022. Galli, who was 23-years-old, worked as an explosive ordinance disposal officer and was assigned to Fort Carson, Colorado.
Henrico County is getting a boost in its effort to spread broadband internet. Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan presented the county with a 725-thousand dollar check. The county can use the money to help with its six-and-a-half million dollar plan to provide the entire county with broadband internet.
The Virginia Beach Police training facility is getting major upgrades thanks to multiple federal grants. Congresswoman Jen Kiggans presented the center with 700-thousand dollars in federal funding. The facility is set to receive close to 15-million in total for the planned upgrades which include replacing the driving track, renovating buildings and building a new six-story rappel tower. The facility is set to start renovations this fall. They plan to be completely finished by the summer of 2026.
