A Spotsylvania County elementary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly hitting a child with a shoe. The sheriff's office obtained a video showing 73-year-old Gloria Joan Jackson hitting a six-year-old. Jackson is a behavioral interventionist employee at Cedar Forest school. Jackson has been fired from her position and has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. Police say the child involved was not injured.  
 
 
Some Richmond officials think too many public housing tenants are being evicted. The Richmond Regional Housing Authority evicted 13 families this year. City Council President Kristen Nye wants to see less evictions over small amounts of money or other minor issues. She says evicting public housing tenants during a housing crisis puts more strain on city resources when the city doesn't have a lot of options. Councilmember Stephanie Lynch says public housing is our housing of last resort, and they shouldn't operate like a private landlord. Councilmember Andreas Addison tells CBS 6, he wants to make sure residents at all income levels have the ability to stay in their home as long as they can.  
 
 
A southwest Virginia man is facing charges after allegedly driving around with a dead woman in his car for more than eight hours. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says 57-year-old Sanders Chad Barrett was arrested Thursday in the parking lot of a Sam's Club in Bristol. Investigators found the body in the rear seat of Barrett's vehicle and determined the woman had been dead for several hours. Barrett was charged with a felony for transporting and concealing a dead body and for possession of crystal meth.
