An investigation is ongoing after a six-year-old student in Orange County brought a gun to school. The Sheriff's Office says school staff at Orange Elementary School alerted police after finding the loaded gun in the student's backpack. No threats were made against the school and no injuries were reported. At this point, no arrests have been made.

A Herndon man has been indicted for aggravated murder connected to the death of his wife and another man. Authorities say 39-year-old Brendan Banfield is facing the charges after his wife Christine Banfield and the man, Joseph Ryan were found dead in the Banfield home in 2023. Brendan Banfield initially claimed Ryan had broken in and attacked his wife, but after a lengthy investigation, authorities charged Banfield with murder. The family's au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhaes, also faces second-degree murder charges for Ryan's death.

A now former Virginia Beach teacher lost her job after reportedly being intoxicated while working. Police responded to Princess Anne Middle School where they found 56-year-old Caroline Power was found in possession of alcohol on school property. Virginia Beach City Public Schools have not released information related to the incident but say Powers is no longer employed with the school division.
