The Virginia State Police says troopers responded to more than 100 crashes in the Wytheville and Salem Districts between noon and 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Seven people were injured but no deaths were reported.  
 
 
The Virginia National Guard is ready to help deal with problems caused by winter weather rolling through the state. Governor Glenn Youngkin declared a state of emergency on Friday as forecasters predicted snow and freezing rain across a large portion of the state. National Guard troops were staged along Interstate 95 and Route 29 and in several areas in southwestern Virginia. Troops will provide services such as clearing debris with chainsaws to help clear roads and help electric crews get to areas with downed power lines.

While you can take down your Christmas tree whenever you feel like it, some traditions hold that today is the day to de-decorate.
