A police officer is recovering after allegedly being set on fire during a domestic dispute in Pulaski County. Dublin police and Pulaski County deputies were called to a home in Dublin on Wednesday after a case of domestic assault was reported to 911. A man allegedly poured gasoline onto one of the police officers and then lit him on fire. Other officers quickly put out the fire and arrested the suspect. Thirty-year-old Dakota Lewis Sirt was charged with multiple crimes, including attempted aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer. The injured officer was treated for severe burns and is currently recovering at home.

A road-widening project gets underway this week in Hanover County. VDOT will begin expanding Route One from Arbor Oak Drive to the Town of Ashland. The 11-and-a-half million dollar project calls for left turn lanes, raised medians and sidewalks. The goal is to make the road safer for pedestrians. A potential third assassination attempt against former President Trump was stopped outside his rally in Coachella Valley on Saturday. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco confirmed the news to the New York Post, saying a man armed with guns and fake passes was detained around a mile from the event. The suspect allegedly had a loaded shotgun and handgun, as well as a high capacity magazine.
