Concerns about flooding continue today in Central Virginia. The National Weather Service has a Flood Warning in effect for the James River at Richmond Locks and Richmond Westham. This'll affect Chesterfield and Henrico counties and the city of Richmond. Residents can expect minor flooding.

The death toll has risen to at least 190 in the Southeast with hundreds still missing after Hurricane Helene and its remnants swept through the region. Areas of North Carolina have been particularly hit hard by floods, with the majority of fatalities counted there and property damage estimated to be in the billions.

The Richmond SPCA is doing its part to help animals affected by Hurricane Helene. The agency has taken in over 40 cats and dogs from shelters in western North Carolina. The shelters have lost power and water since the storm hit. A Richmond SPCA official says the agency also sent a van carrying supplies to North Carolina. She tells 8News disaster relief is an amazing effort.
