Six people are recovering after a crash involving a school bus in Suffolk. Investigators say multiple vehicles were involved in the crash at the intersection of Bridge Road and College Drive yesterday afternoon. One child from the bus was injured, while two children in other vehicles were hurt. The injuries were not considered life-threatening. The children on the bus were taken back to Creekside Elementary following the crash so they could be picked up by their parents.
Local disaster relief volunteers are ready for their next assignment. A group from Petersburg is planning to go to Damascus in Washington County tomorrow to pass out donated items, like water and paper towels. Kathleen McKay is organizing the effort. She says the goal is to take as much as they can to bless Damascus. McKay and others recently got back from helping disaster relief efforts in North Carolina. One volunteer tells CBS 6 seeing the destruction was a staggering wake up call.

Dispatchers from Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties and the city of Charlottesville are part of the 17-person team that left yesterday. The team will be deployed for eleven days and will assist in answering 9-1-1 calls while giving overworked colleagues in North Carolina a chance to rest and recover.
