An international team of scientists say they've found a previously unknown compound in U.S. drinking water. The study is sparking concern about possible public health risks. The compound forms from the decomposition of disinfectants that are used to protect people from diseases. Their toxicity is unknown because they haven't been studied before but researchers expressed concern about how widespread they are and their similarities to other substances that pose risks.
