Fairfax County supervisors are pushing to bring a new FBI headquarters to a site in Springfield.Preview: The Virginia General Assembly is set to return to Richmond next month for what is commonly called the short session. Lawmakers will meet from January 8th to February 22nd to consider new legislation and have another look at bills carried over from last year. A new bill from Republican Delegate Chad Green will look at increasing the punishment for letting unlicensed minors knowingly drive a vehicle. Advocates say the bill would hold parents responsible when they allow their children to drive before they get a license.
Crews are battling a massive wildfire in Augusta County. The Big Levels Fire has grown to nearly two-thousand acres within just a few days in the Saint Mary's Wilderness corner of the national forest in the county. A helicopter dropped 50-thousand gallons of water on the blaze on Sunday alone. Only around ten-percent of the fire has been contained.
The parents of an American journalist who went missing in Syria say their son is alive and they believe they'll be reunited with him soon. In an interview with NBC News, the parents of Austin Tice say they received intel prior to the fall of the Syrian government that their son was alive and well cared for. What they don't know is who's been holding him. Austin Tice went missing in 2012 while covering the Syrian civil war.
