Richmond's mayor appears ready to battle the governor over immigration. Mayor Levar Stoney talked yesterday about Governor Glenn Youngkin's proposal to ban sanctuary cities in Virginia. Stoney says Youngkin is doing his best to cozy up to Donald Trump and giving his best Trump impression. He adds Youngkin should focus on making sure our communities are safe. Stoney also tells 12 On Your Side with Democrats controlling the General Assembly, it's unlikely the ban will pass.  
 
 
Virginia leaders say they're concerned over a new study highlighting the danger of driving while under the influence of marijuana. The study finds a third of drivers in the state believe people who consume marijuana are safe to drive. But health officials say driving under the influence can slow down reaction times, impair judgment, and decrease coordination needed to drive safely. The study also finds people who do consume marijuana plan for a safe ride home by using rideshares or designating a driver. December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.  
 
 
Northwest Guilford High School's Viking band will be marching in Vatican City on New Year's Eve. The band will be playing for the Pope, with an expected crowd of 25 million people in the area. WFMY reports this experience is seen as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students, offering them a chance to broaden their horizons and learn about the world outside of textbooks.
