Elected leaders from both of the state's political parties are condemning President Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter. Virginia Democratic Senator Tim Kaine called the decision "disappointing" yesterday, saying Biden broke his promise not to issue a pardon. Democratic Senator Mark Warner echoed Kaine, saying he was worried about the message it sends to Americans about how the justice system works. Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears said she understood the love of a father for a child but thought the decision undermined the integrity of the legal system. Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares called the decision "beneath contempt," adding that it falls short of the standard expected from elected leaders.
