Virginia lawmakers now have fewer bills to consider after Crossover Day at the General Assembly. Members of the House and Senate rushed to take final votes yesterday so their bills could be moved to the other chamber for further action. Among the measures passed yesterday were a framework to establish retail sales of recreational marijuana, a bill to ban the sale of new assault weapons and a proposal to establish a statewide paid family leave program. This year's session is scheduled to adjourn on February 22nd.  
 
 
A Richmond Public Schools employee feels like a slave on a plantation. RPS payroll technician Lameeka Evans and other employees went before the school board yesterday to complain about a toxic work environment and discrimination. They blame Chief Talent Officer Maggie Clemmons and asked the board to fire her. Eighteen employees submitted almost 60 pages worth of complaints of bullying, racism and verbal harassment. Clemmons attended the meeting but did not speak. A district spokesperson tells 8News they can't comment on personnel matters, but RPS takes all employee grievances and allegations of workplace misconduct seriously.  
 
 
Programs helping millions of seniors across the country, including many right here in Virgina, may be facing some funding issues as federal money is put on hold. Katie Gray reports.
