Some Virginia students sent home early yesterday (Monday) after reports some locations lossing power.Preview: The Department of Veterans Affairs says it will no longer offer medical treatment for gender dysphoria. In a statement, the department said the decision is in response to an executive order signed by President Trump on his first day back in office. The VA said savings from no longer providing gender dysphoria care will be redirected to helping severely injured veterans. VA Secretary Doug Collins said "if veterans want to attempt to change their sex, they can do so on their own dime." Veterans who are already receiving gender dysphoria treatment from the VA are exempt from the new policy.
Governor Glenn Younkin has less than a week to act on bills passed during the recent General Assembly session. The legislature sent Youngkin hundreds of bills and he has until Monday to approve or veto them. Some of the bills approved by the body include proposals that Youngkin has rejected in the past, including a statewide minimum wage increase. The General Assembly will return to Richmond early next month to consider the governor's vetoes and amendments.
