A young driver arrested after the death of three James Madison University students has accepted a plea deal. Nineteen-year-old Campbell Fortune was originally charged with negligent homicide after the 2023 crash. Investigators said Campbell was the designated driver of a car carrying a group of JMU students to a strip club in West Virginia. The car crashed on the way back to the university and Fortune was charged with multiple counts of negligent homicide. Prosecutors in Hardy County, West Virginia allowed Fortune to plead guilty recently to one count of negligent homicide and one count of speeding. He'll be sentenced on April 22nd.

The school will soon launch a second doula [[ DOO-luh ]] training program. A doula is a woman who provides guidance and support to a pregnant woman during labor. The school had a doula training program last year, and it was so popular, VUU secured funding for another class that starts next week. Felicia Cosby is the dean of technical surgery at VUU, and she says when it comes to maternal health, Black women die at a higher rate than white women. She tells 8News she hopes training more doulas can fix that.
