Some Henrico County officials are frustrated with another official's choice to leave a meeting. The school board and Board of Supervisors met yesterday to discuss how to ease school overcrowding. Chair Marcie Shea tried to excuse Vice Chair Madison Irving's decision to leave early by explaining he teaches in Chesterfield County and has to be up early in the morning. Some other board members weren't OK with that, though. Varina Supervisor Reverend Tyrone Nelson says it's hard to have a conversation without him, calling Irving integral to the conversation. Board of Supervisors Chair Dan Schmitt tells 12 On Your Side elected officials have a responsibility to serve the people, and these meetings should be a priority.
New measles cases have been confirmed in two Prince George's County residents who recently traveled together internationally.Preview: The man now in charge of Richmond's public utilities department hopes to win over a skeptical public. New DPU Director Scott Morris met with residents last night at Lois Harrison-Jones Elementary School. He tried to assure residents the problems that led to the water crisis in January are being addressed. Morris also asked residents facing high utility bills to contact his office. One of those facing unusually high bills says he appreciates Morris making himself accessible, but he also tells 8News he didn't hear much of a plan for resolving the issue.
