The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information about the death of a Danville firefighter earlier this week. Thirty-one-year-old Kaleb Barker was found with a gunshot injury in Ringgold on Tuesday. He died after he was taken to the hospital. A preliminary report indicates the shooting was accidental, though the case is still under investigation.
Seven people are facing charges for allegedly robbing a juvenile in Hanover County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday five juveniles and two adults were arrested for an incident last week on Honey Meadows Road. Deputies say the victim was attacked and robbed. They suffered bone fractures and facial lacerations. Nineteen-year-old Duran Bozkurt and 18-year-old Brian Gibson, Jr. were arrested. Both are from Mechanicsville. They're facing charges that include robbery and brandishing a firearm in commission of a felony. Sheriff David Hines says regardless of the ages of those involved, there is no place for this behavior in our community.
Arlington Public Schools will be changing social media platforms. School Board member Miranda Turner questioned why the district will no longer post on X but instead use rival-platform, Bluesky, suggesting that both platforms could be maintained.
