The attorney for a man accused of being a leader in the MS-13 gang claims federal authorities want to deport him from the U.S. Henrry Villatoro Santos was arrested in northern Virginia last month and charged with possession of a firearm by a person in the U.S. illegally. Federal prosecutors moved to dismiss those charges yesterday but gave no reason for doing so. His attorney then filed a motion asking the court to delay the dismissal by two weeks. The attorney claims the government wants to unlawfully deport Santos and that he will be arrested by ICE once the charges are officially dismissed.
Virginia Beach City Public Schools join other districts in suspending DEI initiatives.Preview: A northern Virginia town has decided to disband its police department. The Purcellville Town Council approved the move in a 4-2 vote on Tuesday. Supporters of eliminating the department say it will save money, while critics say they were blindsided by the move. Law enforcement responsibilities in the town would be turned over to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. A final vote on the measure could happen later this month.
A whistleblower is claiming Meta provided user data to the Chinese government. In a Wednesday Senate hearing Sarah Wynn-Williams said she witnessed executives "repeatedly undermine U.S. national security and betray American values." According to Wynn-Williams, this was part of an effort to win favor with the Chinese government. Meta has denied Wynn-Williams' allegations, calling them "divorced from reality."
