Investigators are still working to identify and arrest suspects following a weekend shooting at Norfolk State University. Police say two men were taken to the hospital after the Saturday night shooting in the 22-hundred block of Presidential Parkway. The street runs through the campus and many students rent apartments in the area. One of the injured men reportedly had life-threatening injuries. Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators as soon as possible.
The Goochland County School Board in the Piedmont faces a firestorm of criticism.Preview: The Virginia Department of Health is reporting the state's first measles case of the year. The agency says a four-year-old child who lives in the Northwest region was recently diagnosed with the illness. The region includes many cities and counties in north-central and northwest Virginia. The health department says the child visited clinics in Woodbridge and Fredericksburg on April 15th and 16th, possibly exposing others to the illness.
Spring skies bring skywatching spectacles as the annual Lyrid meteor shower returns. Astronomers expect the meteor shower to reach its peak on Monday night going into the early-morning hours of Tuesday. Depending on the weather and sky conditions viewers could see up to 15 shooting stars per hour. Experts say look to east after dark and you may catch a glimpse of a meteor streaking across the night sky from now until April 29th.
