Two children have been reunited with a parent after police say they were seen walking alone near an intersection in Chesapeake.Preview: The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is unhappy with expectations and demands coming from elected leaders in Purcellville [[PURSE-ville]]. The town expects the sheriff's office to provide law enforcement services if council members vote to dissolve the police department later today. The council reportedly expects a formal agreement with the sheriff's office that would see at least eight deputies assigned to the town for 24-7 coverage, as well as a substation established within the town. The sheriff's office released a statement yesterday saying Sheriff Mike Chapman has not been consulted about the requirements and hasn't agreed to any of the terms listed.
A Republican candidate for lieutenant governor is dropping out of the race. Pat Herrity announced yesterday that his health has prevented him from campaigning and is now forcing him to drop out. Herrity had heart surgery last month, and he says complications from the surgery have left him without the energy to mount a competitive statewide campaign. John Reid is now the only Republican candidate running for lieutenant governor.
