Richmond is apologizing for what it calls a clerical error that affected hundreds of residents. The city's Department of Information Technology announced yesterday a mailroom mistake took place in February. That mistake led to over 200 debt setoff letters being sent to the wrong addresses. The letters included names, addresses, claim numbers and amounts due. At this point, the city has found no further impact, and it has started to contact those affected. The city also says mailroom staff will be re-trained to make sure mail is delivered to the proper recipient. Charles Todd is the director of the Department of Information Technology, and he says he wants Richmonders to know we will review our processes and make the necessary adjustments to prevent this from happening again.
