A driver is in the hospital after being burned in a car fire in Fairfax County. Firefighters were called to the Lorton around 10:45 yesterday morning. Crews found a burning 4-door sedan and a person outside the vehicle who was also on fire. Firefighters put out the blaze, while the driver was flown to a burn center in critical condition. Investigators are looking into the cause of the flames, which reportedly was not caused by a crash. It is unclear if the car was electric.
Virginia schools are sounding the alarm in the rise of students vapping usage on campus.Preview: Home prices are increasing around the state. A Virginia Realtors analysis of prices during the first four months of the year finds median prices in Roanoke, Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Blacksburg are all up by at least six percent over last year. Northern Virginia remains the most expensive region in the state, with median home prices increasing to 664 thousand dollars since the beginning of this year. Home prices are also up over five percent in Richmond, and more than four-and-a-half percent in Hampton Roads.
Genetic testing giant 23andMe is notifying customers that they may be eligible to file claims as the company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Eligible current and former customers have until July 14th to file claims for losses incurred. The move follows a massive data breach that compromised sensitive personal information of nearly seven million users.
