The FAA is confirming another problem with the air traffic control system at DC's Reagan National Airport. FAA Deputy Chief Frank McIntosh was on Capitol Hill yesterday for a hearing on the deadly January 29th mid-air collision between a passenger jet and an Army helicopter. McIntosh confirmed that a hotline between air traffic controllers at Reagan National and the Pentagon has not worked since 2022. He said the FAA only became aware of the problem after a recent near-miss at the airport. The agency wants that hotline restored before it allows Army helicopter flights to resume near the airport.
