Flooding could be a problem today in Central Virginia. The National Weather Service has a Flood Warning in effect until 11:00 p.m. Minor flooding has already been reported along the James River. The flood stage is eight feet, but the NWS says the water level rose to almost 11-and-a-half feet last night. It's expected to fall below flood stage this afternoon.  
 
 
According to a recent study findings show Virginia women in their 30s and 40s are drinking more now than in previous decades.

Governor Youngkin is implementing new laws designed to improve Virginia's foster care system. The governor held a bill-signing ceremony to promote the new measures yesterday in Richmond. The laws will require state and local agencies to give information about contacting the Office of the Children's Ombudsman. The governor said children and parents need to know they have someone they can contact to voice concerns about the foster care system.  
 
 
Drivers who use Route 29 in Fairfax County are being warned about upcoming weekend road closures. Virginia Department of Transportation workers will be installing a culvert as part of a project to widen the roadway. Route 29 will be closed between the Clifton Road/Stringfellow Road interchange and Fairfax County Parkway on four consecutive weekends beginning May 30th. Closures will last from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. each Monday.
